Biography

Mairi Thorne considers herself a "Millennial Artist" as she has one foot in traditional art, and the other in digital art.  She also has a hand in medieval tools and techniques due to her upbringing, so she does rather a lot of different mediums.

Throughout her childhood she loved art and the creation thereof, but heard that she needed to make money so she put it on the back burner.  During her first bout at university she realized that the money making bio-chem degree just wasn't worth it.  She later graduated from The University of Advancing Technology with a B. A. in Game Art and Animation, which she promptly ignored and started doing watercolors.

Ms. Thorne does a wide variety of mediums including: watercolors, soft pastels, gouache, oils, lino-cut block printing, jewelry making, paint making, soap making, and a smattering of textile arts. There may be a touch of her mother's ADHD in there.  Ms. Thorne currently tends to focus on plein air watercolors and pastels; she is also exploring more with gouache.
